Day 2: The Bubbles

May 11

Today I started bright and early. I started the morning by stretching my canvas with Corby. It was really hard

and I have to say I’m glad that's over. I then did some more sketches and worked on color choices. Once the

canvas was done, I started by sketching out each individual design that would go in the bubbles, which took

me forever. I did a ton of sketches in my notebook to decide what experiences to paint and I finally made up

my mind.

I was really excited to start painting so I set up my paints, chose my brushes, and started mixing the color

for the background. It took me a while to get the color perfect but I got it and started painting. I forgot how

much I love painting until I started. I made so much progress today. I painted the whole background and a

lot of the bigger details in the small bubbles. I am really happy with the work that I did today.

End of the week

May 16 This week has been wonderful. So far this year I have taken no art classes so my art outlet has been limited to a lined notebook in the middle of class. Spending this much time in the studio around other people doing similar projects has really helped my creativity flow. I have enjoyed being able to work on my project whenever I want. The freedom that we have been given with senior project has really shown me that I will make time to do things even if sometimes I don't want to. I have still gotten up every morning and gone to breakfast with my friends like usual to get an early start of my day. I start early in the mornings so that I can have time in the afternoon. I really enjoy painting more than I thought I did. Originally I was not very excited about this project as much as I wish I had been because painting is not my strongest talent. I think that I'm making a lot of progress on it and the day I started painting I did so much, I wondered if I would even need 55 hour...

Day 4: Still waiting for the paint to dry

Blog 4: 8:00-11:00 2:00-3:00 = 4 hours May 13 Today was another early start to the day. I started the day off by doing some research on colors to use in my painting of the grand canyon and it helped. Then once I did that, I got the paint colors that I wanted and started to mix the reddish-orange color of the rock. I already had a base color down and I was having a hard time visualizing what it would look like when it was done but I added more colors and added the red and orange paint and I saw it start to come together. I worked on painting all of the backgrounds for all of the bubbles and it took me forever to figure out the color I wanted for the background of the Holderness weekend one. The paint has been taking forever to dry so I haven’t been able to do as much work on it as I would like but I have still made a lot of progress.

End of week 2

This week has been so long. I have enjoyed painting a lot, but it has become quite frustrating at times. This week I have reached 55 hours! After counting up all of my hours and realizing I had made it to 55 I was so happy. I have been working so so hard on this painting and I can really start to see it paying off and having worked for 55 hours seems crazy. I have really started to add detail to each of the bubbles and can really start to see it coming together. I have finished a lot of the bubbles and finally being done with parts of his painting feels like a weight being lifted off my chest. I have finished the mountain orb, the ocean or the dorm life orb, the Costa Rica orb, the Slocomb Windows orb, the orientation orb, the Mike orb, and the library orb. I am having trouble with the ski hill and holding this weekend orbs. The ski hill is very hard because I need it to look like it is coming at you, and I struggle with that. There is so much white because of the trees and the snow on...
