blog 13: The end

Blog 13: May 25 Today I basically spent the day writing and finishing the last part of my painting. I was writing the final response essay and it was a lot easier than I thought. I basically have been voice typing the whole thing and it has made the process so much easier. All I had to do to finish my painting is paint the edges orang and finish the ski hill bubble. The last bubble has been by far my least favorite because it has been the most rushed. When I got here this morning the paint was still wet. That made turning it into a bubble really hard.

blog 12: A day of bubbles

Blog 12: May 24 Unlike all of the other days, I had an early start to my day, but it was unintentional. Today I got to the studio at 10:00. I spent literally the whole day turning the small orbs into water-looking bubbles. It was literally so hard. Since I had to basically cover the whole bubble with a thin layer of blue paint, I needed to go back and make the colors brighter once I had turned them into bubbles. Since I had to make all of them look about the same, it took me so long. I added so much paint and I think that it really started to look like what I wanted.

End of week 2

This week has been so long. I have enjoyed painting a lot, but it has become quite frustrating at times. This week I have reached 55 hours! After counting up all of my hours and realizing I had made it to 55 I was so happy. I have been working so so hard on this painting and I can really start to see it paying off and having worked for 55 hours seems crazy. I have really started to add detail to each of the bubbles and can really start to see it coming together. I have finished a lot of the bubbles and finally being done with parts of his painting feels like a weight being lifted off my chest. I have finished the mountain orb, the ocean or the dorm life orb, the Costa Rica orb, the Slocomb Windows orb, the orientation orb, the Mike orb, and the library orb. I am having trouble with the ski hill and holding this weekend orbs. The ski hill is very hard because I need it to look like it is coming at you, and I struggle with that. There is so much white because of the trees and the snow on

Day 11: 55 hours

Blog 11: 8:00- 11:00 May 21 Today I didn't work as long as I have been. Since I have completed the 55 hours now I have decided that I want to also enjoy my last few days at Proctor. So rather than spending an entire day in the studio, I want to enjoy being outside on the beautiful campus. Today I worked on turning the finished and dry small orbs into orbs. Corby taught us this technique that would help make the pictures look three-dimensional and like water. So I use this technique to make them look three-dimensional and reflective. I thought that it was working very well on the few that I was able to do. I still have many more of the bubbles to do this on but I needed to wait for them to dry.

Day 10: Holderness Weekend

Blog 10: 8:00- 12:00 1:00-3:00 May 20 Today I worked on some finishing touches to the bubbles. Most of the bubbles are completely done, with the exception of the final coating. Today I mainly words on the Holderness weekend bubble. I wanted to make it seem more like Proctor because previously it had almost looked like a Christmas bubble. The hat and a scarf while they do make us think of Holderness weekend also represent other things. I wanted it to be very clear that it was Holderness weekend. I think that after I added some details, it does now look like we're this weekend. I worked on the ski hill a little bit and put some finishing touches on the library.

Day 9: The Proctor Pond

Blog 9: 8:30-2:00 May 19 Today I started my day off at 8:30.  Today was not as long as most of my days but I still put in hours of work. I have been adding a lot of detail to all aspects of the painting. Over the past two days now I have been working on the pond underneath the orb. I have been working on adding different colors and layering in Reds greens and blues together to get the right texture for the water. After looking at the pond, it has become one of my favorite parts. I added more color to the mountain orb and started to see the oranges pop like they would in a desert. it was a very long day of painting and I got a lot done. Corby taught us how to do something called scumbling and glazing. This technique will help me later on in my painting.

day 8: The library

Blog 8: 8:00-12:30 1:00-3:00 May 18 I started my day again early today. After about three hours of work, I went on a walk around campus with one of my friends to get inspiration for adding a couple more orbs. We walked over to the library and decided that I should add the library to my painting. We started on the bottom floor took pictures for inspiration then went into the library and took some pictures and went all the way up to the third floor to take more pictures for inspiration. I found one picture that I took to be a really good representation of the beauty in the library. I started painting it and could see it coming together within that short amount of time.
